It all started during a holiday in Cuba. I had the chance to make a introduction dive close to Cienfuegos. It was a great experience, but it took a year before I got into the water again. In the summer of 2011 I did my PADI open water course in the southern of France. As I live in the Netherlands it wasn’t that easy to continue diving at home. The water temperature is not that high and the visibility is often very limited.
After my holiday in 2012 in Thailand where I finished the advance course I started diving in the Netherlands. First in an “easy” lake with relatively good visibility and after a few dives in Zeeland, which is probably the best place to dive in the Netherlands. A full overview of my dive logs can be found here.
Last year I decided to invest in an underwater camera. After some investigation I decided to buy a compact camera (Sony RX100M2) because of the relatively small size (easy to take on my holidays) and limited budget. Together with a Nauticam underwater housing this a great combination. The housing works very intuitive, which is necessary for smooth operation of the camera with the thick gloves. The following accessories make my set complete:
- Sea & Sea YS-01 strobe
- 2 x Inon UCL-165 macro lenses
With this setup I’m now making the photos shown on this site. I hope you enjoy them and are an inspiration for you.
